Grade 3 Music: Beats & Rhythm

Description:

Using the words rest, blue, yellow, and vibrant orange students clapped a variety of rhythms. Each colour represented a beat, while the syllables represented the rhythm. Independently, small groups, and whole class created their own pieces. As an assessment, in pairs students performed their creations to their classmates with homemade instruments.

Significance:

This was my first practicum as a Teacher Candidate. Music was my first lesson, and my final. I was able to create lessons, and an assessment that was open-ended and inclusive for all of my learners. The students were excited to work together and challenge themselves.
